Kolkata: ISKCON Mayapur to draw 50,000 devotees on Rath Yatra

Around 50,000 devotees are expected to visit ISKCON temple at Mayapur when the Jagannath Rath Yatra will be celebrated on July 6. The intricately decorated chariots of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balbhadra and Goddess Subhadra will be taken out from Jagannath temple Rajapur to Chandradaya temple, the Gundicha temple. The process which will be a mélange of dance, chants and musical performances will start at 2 PM.

People from various communities are expected to participate in the celebrations as the Jagannath Yatra at Mayapur become as a symbol of equality and integration. According to the mythology, this festival commemorates the annual journey Lord Krishna, along with his brother Balram and sister Subhadra used to take to their aunt’s place.
